Education Bio

When I started at AGWSR in 2003, I had been a stay-at-home mom for 3 years. Prior to that, I had taught 1st grade down at Gladbrook-Reinbeck.   It was hard making the transition at first, but the staff and families were so welcoming that I knew I made the right decision going back to work.

Personal Bio

I love reading, camping, and scrapbooking. I’m a Type A personality…love routines, organization, etc…

Family- My husband is a deputy sheriff for Butler County.  We have triplet daughters: Madison, McKenna, and Miranda.

Paragraph Description for each course taught

7th/8th Grade Reading: Getting my students to find a passion for reading is my goal.  I like to expose them to many types of literature, as well as, challenge them to read more than they have ever read.  Each quarter the students are required to do a project over a book of their choice.

8th Language:  Writing does matter!   Being able to express your thoughts through writing is vital.  My writing class is based around the Six Traits of Writing.

Family & Consumer Science: This class allows me to step out of the “routine classroom” and just have fun in the kitchen.  Middle school kids love this hands-on class(and all the food of course.)
