Hello, I am the Early Childhood Special Education Teacher for the AGWSR school district.  This is a position I have held since school year 2004-2005.  I am an Ackley resident and have been since 2000.  Prior to moving to Ackley my family and I lived in St. Louis, Missouri.  We relocated to Iowa  as a result of my husbands employment.  Small town life was a huge transition for myself, but my husband and children settled into it quickly.  Since our move here, I too have  settled into rural community life and am loving it.

Educational Background:

Master of Arts in Education, Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Northern Iowa

Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education/Special Education from the University of Missouri St. Louis

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Marketing/Office Management from Southeast Missouri State University

1997-2000  St. Louis Special School District, St. Louis, Missouri - Elementary Special Education Teacher

2000-2004  River Hill School, Cedar Falls, Iowa -  Special Education Teacher

2004-Current  AGWSR, Ackley, Iowa -  Early Childhood Special Education Teacher

Current Position:

I  am currently the school districts Early Childhood Special Education Teacher.  I work with children ages 3-6 who have special needs.  Although my classroom is considered a self-contained classroom, all my students, at some point in their weekly schedules attend one of our districts Pre-school programs.  My classroom is housed in The Cougar Den in Ackley.  We are located just across the street from the Ackley Elementary building.

The ECSE classroom has implemented The Creative Curriculum for Preschool.  The Creative Curriculum for Preschool allows teachers to plan and implement a developmentally appropriate program that promotes children's social-emotional development and learning in the core areas of literacy, math, science, and social studies.  Through the activities we plan and the way we organize the classroom, select toys and material, plan the daily schedule, and talk with children, we seek to accomplish the goals of our curriculum and give your child a successful start in school.
